A vintage German movie poster of ''War and Peace'', a 1956 American-Italian film adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's epic novel of the same name. Directed by King Vidor, this historical drama is known for its grand scale, impressive production values, and its ambitious attempt to bring one of the greatest literary works to the screen.
The film spans several years and is set against the backdrop of Napoleon's invasion of Russia and the subsequent Napoleonic Wars. It follows the lives and fates of several interconnected Russian aristocratic families, including the central characters of Pierre Bezukhov, played by Henry Fonda, and Natasha Rostova, portrayed by Audrey Hepburn.
